Measuring WOM Comes of Age
Saturday, March 25 2006 @ 06:42 PM EST
Contributed by: Dave Balter

How do you measure WOM?

A) Track communications patterns against WOM media norms [more on that later]

B) Implement ROI proof points such as regional test and control, loyalty program card tracking and coupons, rebates and other codes.

C) Understand and refine your Net Promoter Score.

We now track Net Promoter as part of every program we run, and see more clients using this metric across multiple levels of their businesses. Here's some snapshots from one of our recent campaign final reports:

Watercolors

A few nights ago I had the pleasure of accompanying Mary-Stuart, BzzAgent’s ebullient receptionist/factotum, to an open house hosted by the Women’s Lunch Place. BzzAgent, along with other area agencies and corporate donors, was invited to attend this event so we could become more familiar with the organization’s charter in hopes that we may be able to “get the word out” about them.

Well, I would like to start bzzing them now.

This collection of generous spirits join together six days per week in the basement of the Church of the Covenant on the impossibly posh end of Boston’s Newbury Street to provide nourishment (home cooked meals!), shower facilities and nap space for more than one hundred homeless, abused and otherwise disenfranchised women. When the shelter doors close, theirs open.

But the services provided by Women’s Lunch Place extend beyond its name. A cursory glance at the monthly calendar indicated activities from the life saving (visits from area doctors and nurses) to the life affirming (skating outings, talent and fashion shows).

And then there was the art.

Surrounding the perimeter of the gathering room were scores of watercolor paintings, mostly still life creations. Mary-Stuart liked the snowflake at night painting the best; I liked one of a solitary apple. Along the boarder of many of the paintings (many of which were pretty darn good!) were inspiring proverbs, prayers and other axioms.

I am not sure if our service will be able to help this organization, but if any of our Boston-area BzzAgents are reading this blog, I hope your friends about this organization. They are always looking for donations and volunteers.
